Christopher Cross Griffin is on the hit television show called Family Guy. He is 14 years old and attends James Woods Regional High School. He takes after his dads trait in that he isn’t a bright person and he is obese like him. Chris has been a fat child, even at birth. In an episode called “He’s Too Sexy for his Fat” he reminisces back to when he was fat at birth and Lois made the front page of the newspaper with a headline, “Elephant Child Born to Local Woman.” Although on occasion Chris is known for being very quick witted, speaking with the distinction and clarity of a more experienced individual.

Chris has two main fears, one is the evil monkey that torments him that lives in his closet and the other is the seniors in high school because of the history that he has had of them paddling him. Chris represents the childlike innocents* as he is easily amused by a variety of simple activities throughout the Family Guy series. Chris is favored over the other children by both Peter and Lois, especially over his sister Meg. Chris remains the Often times Seth MacFarlane produced a short film called The Life of Larry, which the character of Chris resembles Milt who is the son of the main character in the short film. Chris is normally laid back, but when others are rude to him he becomes angry and insulting. For instance, in “Long John Peter,” he insults Joe Swanson, his neighbor for being handicapped.

Lois Pewterschmidt Griffin is a 41 year old animated character on the television show on Family Guy. She is married to Peter Griffin, and they have three children Meg, Chris, Stewie. She comes from a very wealthy family, and her parents did not agree with her dating Peter Griffin. So, her father tried bribing Peter with money, $1,000,000.00 to be exact to break them up.

However, Peter turned down the offer. Her wild teen years are alluded to in quite a few episodes, referencing her drug use and wild nights with Gene Simmons of Kiss. Lois is a stay at home mother, however she does teach piano to some children to get a little extra money for the family. Lois, even being a mother does make bad choices at times for example in an episode where she goes to the grocery store and is getting ready to pay for the food but has to put a ham back because she doesn’t have enough money for it so has to put it back. But she doesn’t put it back, she puts it in her purse. After that, she felt the rush and just began going to many stores stealing. Lois Griffin is also seen as a nymphomaniac because she has such a strong desire for sex.

In the episode “The Dirty Grimace” she pulls down her pants and tells Peter to spank her. In the episode “Sibling Rivalry” Peter gets a vasectomy and doesn’t want to have sex because he feels less of a man so Lois has to channel her sexual frustrations into eating. In “Petarded,” Lois gets a brain tumor due to holding in all of her negative thoughts about having married Peter because he is so childish and does immature things.

The Family Guy is probably the most criticized animated show in the history of American television. A lot of criticisms on the show’s episodes have reached the Fox Executives. There are also criticisms given by other American cartoonists.

Seth MacFarlane made some episodes that shows his protest against the criticisms that the show receives. An example is a scene in the “There’s something about Paulie” episode wherein Peter Griffin used a magazine as his toilet paper. Another example is a scene in Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story wherein Stewie snapped the neck of a magazine reporter.

There was a released copy of Mad Magazine (issue 458) that had a cover of the faces of the Griffin family in the body of the Simpson’s family. Some people say that the style of humor and the plot of the episodes are very similar to the very popular The Simpson’s. In The Simpson’s Halloween special episode “The Italian Bob” the artists illustrated Peter as a look-alike of Homer. The character is an Italian criminal blamed for plagiarism. The Family Guy was also imitated on the two-part episode of South Park entitled “Cartoon Wars”. In this episode, the characters demonstrated jokes unrelated and interchangeable to storylines, and the Family Guy writers are represented as manatees who only write once you push the ideal balls made of rubber listed with various topics and then put into a container.

On the fourth volume of the DVD box set commentary, Seth MacFarlane fought back all of these negative feedbacks. He says that all episodes, jokes, skits and scripts of Family Guy are original.

Seth MacFarlane does many things such as being a singer, screenwriter, animator, comedian, actor, producer, and a composer. What Seth MacFarlane is best known for is being the creator of Family Guy and American dad.  He credits his inspiration to a number of comedians, citing Jackie Gleason as a big part of his growing view on what is funny.He not only created and produced Family Guy, but he also voiced several characters such as Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin, Peter Griffin, Tom Tucker, and Glenn Quagmire.

Family guy made it’s first television show appearance on January 31, 1999.  The random breaks in the show that go into a completely unrelated joke skit are what people either love or hate.  Although not adding to the story line directly, these small skits give the show many of the big laughs that fans tune in for.  Given the fact these can be interchangeable, there will never really be a shortage of ideas to continue to add the the spice of the Family Guy series. A family guy video game was also released in 2006. Seth MacFarlane also takes his casts members on the road so that he can voice his characters in front of a live audience. This gives the fans a chance to hear the future scripts that would be coming out. Family guy has been cancelled twice off of the air but because of the strong support that the fans put out with buying the DVDs, Fox reconsidered and put them back on.  Seth MacFarlane speaks at different universities throughout the United States. Seth is also the highest-paid producer and writer in history. Reportedly he is being paid $100 million by Fox T.V. Seth MacFarlane has received two Emmy awards for all of his vocal performances that he has done on Family Guy.

Family guy is an animated television show that uses story premises along with humor in their episodes.They were criticized the most by Entertainment Weekly, and then Seth MacFarlane went back at them in an episode entitled “There’s Something About Paulie” where Peter is going to the bathroom and he uses their magazine as if it were toilet paper. The television show South Park even takes a hit at Family guy. In the South Park episode entitled “Cartoon Wars,” they portray the Family Guy writers as manatees who simply push rubber balls which are their “idea balls” into a rubber bin. Of course other cartoonists criticized Family Guy because all of the animated shows like them are in competition with the others plus it makes for some good laughs.

The humor in Family Guy is adult in nature, although the fact it is a cartoon give the impression that it could be child appropriate.  Unfortunately, children under a certain age should not be watching the show, as the situations and events that take place are often times over their heads as well as inappropriate for their ages.  Luckily for us adults, the humor is timeless even when the events mentioned are time sensitive.  This is evident by the strong numbers in DVD sales which were the very reason that Family Guy still exists till this day.  By poking fun at the everyday activities most people subject themselves to, this show will continue to venture onto new stages of comedic genius, cementing its place as one of the best cartoon series to grace the often belittled Fox lineup.

When I watch Family Guy, I always eat animal crackers and smoke a little bit to get me really in the mode. The best part is that the show comes on like 3 different channels at 3 different times, but I’m’ a late nighter. I like to watch the family guy at 11 – 12 pm est. By 11, I”m usually off work, showered, and ready to chill for the night. So there is really no better thing to do at that time except to chill and laugh my butt off.

Family Guy Stewie has got to be my favorite character on the show because he just cracks me up. It’s crazy how the creators actually made a baby so cool. I mean a baby that can talk smack and mack on chicks is the coolest. Family Guy rocks, and this blog will be dedicated to everything Family Guy related.
